100% sustainable Australian Merino wool, hand dyed in small batches by Morgan, a Tasmanian born artist now living in the USA. The base is non-superwash wool that has been certified by the National Wool Declaration Scheme of Australia to ensure that the animals are treated ethically and without mulesing.
Morgan uses acid dyes from Tasmania to dye the wool. "Acid dye" refers to the small amount of acetic acid (vinegar) used to soak the wool to ensure the color is taken up by the fiber.
Morgan carefully calculates her dye quantities so that the dye bath completely exhausts, leaving the water clear. She rinses out all of her equipment into her dye pots to ensure dye doesn't go down the drain. She then uses an all-natural eucalyptus wool wash to rinse her yarns.
Part of the beauty of hand dyes is their variation, creating unique skeins even within the same bath. We recommend you alternate skeins when knitting or crocheting even when using only 1 colour and purchase enough for your project.
