Ashford is proud of its very own Tekapo Yarn. It is 100% pure New Zealand, with the wool grown on sheep farms around New Zealand and yarn spun in a small boutique mill in Hawkes Bay. This semi worsted yarn is a blend of Corriedale and Perendale especially designed for softness and strength. It is lofty and bulky and ideal for knitting, weaving and knit/felt garments, accessories and projects.
(11 WPI and 6-10 weaving setting)
All Ashford fleece, sliver and yarns are from New Zealand sheep. The wool is from sheep that have not been mulesed. It is processed in New Zealand.
Ashford yarns are dyed using Oeko-Tex compliant dyes. The mills confirm that all dyes used to produce the Ashford ranges of yarn comply with the strict EU regulations and garments made from Ashford yarns can be certified under the Oeko-Tex Standard 100. This standard is the most widely known standard for certification of ecologically-safe clothing.
