ECOYARNS
Organic and Eco friendly
Yarns, Fibres and Fabrics
For the conscientious crafter
This year, we have some very special yarns and spinning fibres coming to our store.
Happy New Year to you and yours! This is our first Newsletter for 2010, with lots of exciting NEW items in store:
Indian Silk
This range of silk yarns has been specially selected for their environmental credentials. These silks are part of the culture of the Assam region of Northern India, producing three types of naturally coloured silk, from 3 different species of moths. The yarns in our inventory are also known as Peace, Ahimsa or non-violent silk, this means the moths are allowed to emerge before the cocoons are collected for yarn. Eri is white and is the softest, Tassar has many different shades of brown, Muga is the special Golden silk that was reserved for royalty for hundreds of years! These minimally processed yarns still smell like the food the moths eat and still retain the natural silk protein sericin.
They are mostly laceweight yarns, perfect for shawls, fine knitting and crochet, weaving, or you may want to combine a few strands to create a masterpiece.
